Jaz Halloran, Painting Crew
Jaz is a freelance graphic designer in Vancouver ( Comedy Festival, musica intima, one cool word magazine). This past summer, Jaz worked at Henry Reed organic farm on the Sunshine Coast. He has also performed with: Urban Improv, Instant Theatre, Bronx Cheer, and the Vancouver Theatresports League.
Ari Lazer, Painting Crew
Ari is an interdisciplinary artist, storyteller and playwright. A founding member of the Dusty Flowerpot Cabaret, Ari is also the proprietor of the Traveling Alchemists' Outreach Society. This is Ari's second project with Paintings Below Zero; his first was Museum of Modern Ice in Chicago.
Erik Olson, Painting Crew
Erik Olson is a visual artist and graduate of the Emily Carr University. He has worked with Halloran on projects in Chicago, Toronto and Turin, Italy. His own paintings have been exhibited at The Art Gallery of Calgary, Summit Fine Art and the SKEW Gallery.
Briana Lyon, Intern
Briana is an alien to Canada and loves being one. Originally from Walnut, California she has a BA in Religion, Literature and the Arts from UBC and enjoys painting, yoga, hiking and snowboarding. She is brand new to Paintings Below Zero and is “just titillated about getting started”.
Becky Till, Intern
Becky grew up on the Sunshine Coast. She is big on music and creating. At 19 she began singing in a folk band and toured Canada and Europe. More recently she started up a woman’s choir and picked up the banjo. This is Becky’s first experience with Paintings Below Zero.
Emmanuelle Renard, Painting Crew
Emmanuelle Renard is a painter and a geographer. She works and lives in Vancouver BC. She is obsessed with layers, eroded surfaces and abstract forms. Exploring Gordon's layered ice world seems a natural stop. She has regular exhibit in various gallery since 2007.
Al Burns, photographer
This is Al’s fourth PBZ installation, having chilled with the team in Italy, Toronto and Niagara. He shoots architectural and industrial photography, and CD covers. A drummer (blues, big band, jazz, choral groups), he says” notes of music on a page, tones of colours in a photograph… almost the same thing.”
